*Master Deed Defined

Used by a condominium developer or converter for recording condominium development. It divides a single property into individually owned units, includes restrictions on their use and provides for ownership of common areas.

Example: When a New York apartment building was converted into a condominium, the converter filed a master deed with the city to reflect separate ownership of individual units.
